Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, full name Avul Pakir Jainulabden Abdul Kalam.He was born on October 15, 1091, in Rameshwaram, Tamil Naidu, India. He passed away on July 2, 2015. Brief life sketch of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
Early life: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born in a humble Tamil Muslim family. He faced financial difficulties during childhood. But he had a strong desire for education.
Education: He graduated in physics from St. Joseph College, Tiruchirapalli, and in aeronautical engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. Then, he completed his master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
Career at ISRO: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) IN 1969. He played an important role in India’s satellite and space exploration programs.
Missile Man of India: His nickname is “Missile Man of India”. This is due to his work on ballistic missile technology. He was the driving force behind India’s successful development of the Agni and Prithvi missiles.
President of India: In 2002, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was elected as the 11th President of India. He served the nation as president of India up to 2007. He was known for his down-to-earth nature and people-friendly approach during his presidency.
Vision of India: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam always supported the development of science and education. He promoted “Providing Urban Amenities to Rural Inda (PURA)” to improve rural development.
Author: He wrote several books. Among them “Wing of Fire” and “Ignited Minds” were best sellers.
Awards and Honours: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam received numerous awards and honors, including Bharat Ratna” in 1997.
Legacy: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam left a lasting legacy as a scientist, leader, and inspirational figure. He continues to be an icon of motivation for young Indians and people worldwide.
Passing: Sadly, he passed away on july 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong.
